Told in the first person in the style of an epistolary novel we learn first hand how Isabel, a new Mexican immigrant, feels leaving her old home for a new one in the United States. The letters talk about everything she misses, but slowly also the things she likes. The book ends with her having a Mexican style birthday party with all her new friends. A beautiful story to teach children about the immigrant experience.
