Flannel Activity:

I’ll start with 10 green leaves on the tree.
We will count them together.
Then one by one I will replace a green leaf with a Fall leaf and ask the kids to say the color at home. I’ll pause a second to give them time and then say it.
Then after all the leaves are Fall leaves we’ll sing this song:
Ten little Leaves
One little, two little, three little leaves,
Four little, five little, six, little leaves,
Seven little, eight little, nine little leaves,
Ten little leaves are falling.
Gray Squirrel Song:
Grey squirrel, Grey squirrel! (bounce up and down on the words)
Swish your bushy tail! (shake it)
Grey squirrel, Grey squirrel! (bounce up and down on the words)
Swish your bushy tail! (shake it)
Put an nut between your toes( touch your toes)
Wrinkle up your little nose!(wrinkle your nose)
Grey squirrel, Grey squirrel! (bounce up and down on the words)
Swish your bushy tail! (shake it)
Repeat with:
Brown squirrel
Black squirrel
Red squirrel
Poem:

September by John Updike:
The breezes taste
Of apple peel.
The air is full
Of smells to feel–
Ripe fruit, old footballs,
Drying grass,
New books and blackboard
Chalk in class.
The bee, his hive
Well-honeyed, hums
While Mother cuts
Chrysanthemums.
Like plates washed clean
With suds, the days
Are polished with
a morning haze.
