This upper elementary graphic novel follows 7th grade Jordan as he settles in to a new school and makes new friends. He wants to go to art school but his mother feels that this academically prestigious private school is better for his future. The story follows Jordan as he navigates the world of his neighborhood and the world of the predominantly white school.
I recommend this graphic novel not just for kids but for adults, especially adults who work with children so they can see what microaggressions really look like and think about how they interact with their students of color.
