One of my friends/patrons and I have been talking about doing a story time together about the differently abled. Her daughter has cerebral palsy and is in a wheel chair. They come to story time as regularly as they can and we thought it might be beneficial to talk to the kiddos straight forward about her daughter and her wheelchair.
In this book Charley learns that a little girl who he thinks looks weird when he first sees her, actually has a lot in common with him. The book is written by the mother of a differently abled child and addresses how you should interact with these beautiful kiddos. I highly recommend.
