What are the names of Santa’s Reindeer?
Song:
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
you know Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen,
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
They never let poor Rudolph
Join in any reindeer games
Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight
Flannel Set:
Rudolph! Rudolph!
What will you do?
You can’t guide Santa
If your nose is BLUE!
YELLOW
GREEN
PURPLE
BROWN
PINK
ORANGE
Rudolph! Rudolph!
The children are in bed.
And now you’re ready
Cause your nose is RED!

Five Little Elves Jumping on the Sleigh:

One jumped off and ran away.
Song:
Jingle Bells (with my puppet Alpha Betty wearing her Santa hat and jingle bells)
Jingle all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh
Jingle all the way!
Oh what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh
In a one-horse open sleigh
Over the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bob-tail ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing a sleighing song tonight
Jingle all the way!
O’ what fun it is to ride in a one-horse open sleigh
Book:

With frosting galore
One was eaten and then there were four.
Four little Christmas cookies
Two and two you see
One was eaten and then there were three.
Three little Christmas cookies
But before I knew
One was eaten and then there were two.
Two little Christmas cookies ,
Oh what fun!
One was eaten and then there was one.
One little Christmas cookie
Watch me run!
I ate the last one
And then there were none!

So this is a last minute rewrite of the outline I had planned and already posted last week! This is my highest traffic story time and I have been fussing over just the right set of books, songs, and activities to keep the attention of a large group Santa frenzied children. I have padded it to make sure I have enough content until Santa arrives, but I doubt I will get to all five books. Better to be safe than sorry though!
